In the city of Isamu, a string of murders at the prestigious Imperial Boarding Academy has the city on edge. Students are turning up dead, bodies marked by savage, methodical stab wounds that speak of something far beyond ordinary violence.
The pattern is disturbingly familiar. Years ago, a series of killings shook Isamu to its core before going cold and unsolved. The Independent Murders left scars the city never fully healed from. Now, the same grim signature has resurfaced, and no one in power seems eager to make the connection.
Yama Ishimoto is a sharp but disillusioned Academy student doing his best to keep his head down. When a private detective pulls him into an investigation he wants no part of, he reluctantly agrees. The deeper Yama goes, the harder it becomes to ignore what he's uncovering, who benefits from keeping it buried, and just how far Isamu's most powerful institutions will go to protect their secrets.
