Partial Voice Acting Patch Now Released!

1/19/2021

The partial voice acting patch for Inciting Incident is finally here! There are a few things I'd like to explain about this release and what to expect.

  • As mentioned before, only days 1-3 are voiced, ending with Airi Hiraga's introduction in District 6. The entirety of Inciting Incident will be fully voiced in the next release, which is slated to be out  some time this year.
  • Given that this release is partially voiced, it will not be pushed to Steam or itch.io. Instead, the build will be downloadable via our Google Drive. It's recommended that you have at least 1GB of free space for the zip file. Both Windows and Mac versions are available. Links are further down below.
  • There is an option to adjust the volume for the voices in the settings menu (as seen in the screenshot) We will implement more features such as a playback option in the next release.

We hope that this partial patch will drum up hype for the future full release. All of the actors did an amazing job, and we're extremely excited to share some of the progress they've made! While we didn't intend Lucid9 to have voice acting at first, we're thankful for Yin Yang Voices for reaching out to us and remaining dedicated to finishing this project despite the setbacks they've faced.

If you have issues downloading the zip or have any other questions, please feel free to write us here or on our Discord server. Thank you all for your patience, and we hope you look forward to what we have in store next.

This definitely feels like a 'beta' job, but it does still add more color to the world. I notice i'm bothered by what seem to be mispronunciations of proper names, usually overemphasizing the T in people's names (IshimoTo, RyouTa etc), just making it sound unnatural. Maybe it's just me, or my accent, but when i say them, the T ends up sounding more somewhere between a D and a T.
My favorite so far was one of the teachers at the job fair calling Lemniscate 'Lemonscate'. I'd say it's either misspelled or mispronounced-one or the other- but this is my 4th time going through the story and it's always spelled Lemniscate. Maybe it was intentional, i dunno.

I'm still looking forward to seeing how Masato's VA handles his 'slang'. I could never figure out how that was supposed to be pronounced.

Anyway, happy as always to have some new Lucid9 content!

Now that i reread my comment, it's atleast a polished beta. Like, just a few tweaks and it'd be ready for market. 9/10

Sorry for the later response. If you're still having issues, you just need to download the file from the link above and open "Lucid9.exe" that's inside the folder. It's not connected to Steam, so you don't necessarily have to add the voices there. Basically, you're downloading a separate copy of the game, but one with the voices added.

I'm not sure but I think there might be an error with one of the lines, on Day 1 when the text box says Yama: "You're being a burden now.", the voice clip that plays is saying "Hey, Rui...Do you ever think that you and I hang out too much?"
